Andy Nourish – Dental Maverick
Andy Nourish – Dental Maverick

Dr. Andy Nourish

I qualified as a dentist at Birmingham University in 1998. I then spent 3 years working in a specialist orthodontic practice in Northampton before setting up Advance Dental Care.

In addition I recently completed a 1 year course on Advanced Restorative & Cosmetic Dental Techniques at the Eastman Dental Institute in London.

I have a particular interest in Gentle, Straight Teeth Dentistry. I aim to treat all patients with care, and I pride myself on providing treatment that my own family would be happy with. I can’t think of a better feeling than sending a patient away smiling and laughing.

When I’m Not Being A Dentist…

I’m very happily married to Laura who is a GP locally. We’ve got 3 great kids, all boys. Poor Laura has to put up with living with four men! In addition we’ve got two cats called Marg and Rio.

At weekends we usually take the kids to the park, the beach or swimming. We find that having three boys is a bit like having dogs – they tend to behave better if given regular exercise!

We also like going to the cinema as a family, and when we can, eating out and relaxing with a beer with our friends. I enjoy rugby, just a spectator these days! I also play football and badminton.

Dr. Kasim

Calm & Caring Dentist

I’m Kas. I was born and raised in Cardiff and got married last year. I love going to the movies, going out for dinner (I’m still learning to cook!) and meeting up with friends. I’m a regular meditator and feel it really helps me to connect better to myself and others.

I started my working life as a pharmacist, but was looking for a career where I could have more of a hands on impact in improving people’s lives. I then studied dentistry at King’s College London and I’ve loved every moment since!

My background helps me provide holistic care to my patients and I understand the value of really being listened to. For me it’s not just about treating teeth, it’s about understanding and addressing the individual needs of everyone I see.

Stephen Woolley

Dr. Stephen Woolley

Calm & Caring Dentist

I moved to South Wales from North London when I came to study in the 1990s. Since then I’ve been interested in treating patients who find dentistry difficult to tolerate, and have spent time trying to develop the knowledge and skills to make that possible in addition to my general dental treatment.

I’ve been in hospital and general practice most of my career since graduating, and share my time between practice, teaching and my role as a Consultant. I try to follow two principles: treating people rather than just teeth and doing what I would want my family to have done. I really enjoy my job as I can make a difference to people’s lives in a tangible way.

Away from dentistry I enjoy spending time with my family and friends doing the usual stuff- watching films, having fun, and eating nice food. I enjoy watching rugby (though I’m outnumbered by Wales supporters at home), I run when I remember to (though I’m not very fast), and I go indoor climbing.

I love getting to know my patients & treating them as people rather than just the next filling! Looking after patients from one visit to the next is my aim and to help them to take the best care of there teeth.

In my spare time I enjoy tennis & I play for my local club. I love the outdoors & walking with or without my dog, this keeps me happy & stress free, ready for my next patient in work.

Cheryl Jones

Practice Manager

As a wife, mother and grandmother I enjoy spending time with my family, socialising, eating out, walking, going to the rugby and skiing. (Even though I am partial to breaking things!) My career started as a trainee dental nurse in private and NHS practice in Barry before moving to community dental nursing role and then to London to work as a dental nurse in Harley Street. I then managed pubs and restaurants with my husband for a few years before leaving to look after our children. When I returned to the workplace I had a number of roles from a buyer in a new hospital to an estate agent. I returned to nursing about 19 years ago and started working with Andy 15 years ago.

I was thrilled when Andy asked me to join him with his new venture at Advance Dental Care and I am proud to be part of a caring practice that has flourished and diversified to what you see today. The most enjoyable parts of my job are helping our patients feel at ease, relaxed and comfortable during their visit. I love seeing patients happier and more confident with their smiles after their course of treatment.

Diane Lock

Dental Therapist

Outside of work I am a keen member of my local community and traders committee and enjoy organising events for residence and local charities. I also enjoy interfering in the running of my family “child care” business and spending my free time running around after my young children. I qualified as a dental hygienist at University Hospital of Wales in 1999, and then progressed my education to qualify as a dental therapist in 2000. I continue to work in both NHS and private sectors of dentistry and am involved in the campaign to promote and raise awareness of dental therapists and their treatment/care that they can provide.

Cheryl James

Dental Hygienist

Cheryl says…”I have two gorgeous little boys who keep me busy outside of work and love spending time with my family and fur babies. I have two dogs and enjoy long walks as well as socialising and bike riding. I started work within dentistry as a dental nurse on Harley Street, London. I found my main interest in dentistry was how to prevent diseases with excellent oral hygiene. I trained in Cardiff in 2003 and gained a diploma in dental hygiene. I enjoy my role, helping patients to maintain their teeth for life. I take a great interest in treating periodontal conditions and achieving excellent results. I also enjoy teaching patients about dietary facts and maintaining healthy enamel”

Angela Barrett

Receptionist

I enjoy socialising and love our team nights out, even when I am being bundled into a taxi after too much fun by my team mates. I have a son Dylan who is nine and I love playing football and going on bike rides with him. I enjoy a flutter on the horses and had a fab time with our team trip to Ascot. I am also a keen poker player. I am part of the reception team at Advance Dental Care. I love my role meeting and greeting the patients. After being here for over 5 years now I feel they know me inside out.

Hollie Lewis

Dental Nurse

When I’m not in work I enjoy eating out, watching films and taking my dog Marshall out for walks with my brother or my husband. I also enjoy going on holiday, socialising with friends and family, exploring different cities, and skiing – although this might have to be put on hold for a while as I have a little one on the way! I trained as a dental nurse at the University Dental Hospital and qualified in 2014 before working in a dental practice in Cardiff, where I met Andy. I then came over and joined the team at Advance Dental Care. I love being part of the calm and caring team and enjoy seeing the difference we make to our patients.

Sarah Perkins

Lead Dental Nurse

In my spare time, I like to keep fit and socialise with friends and family. I have worked as a dental nurse for 12 years and get great satisfaction from my job. It is a great feeling to see previously nervous patients leave with a smile and new found ease with the dentist. It is important to us all at Advance Dental Care to create a calm and relaxed atmosphere so patients feel comfortable from the start. “I know that’s the type of place I’d like to walk into!”.
